Was your midterm ballot rejected incorrectly? We want to know.
Votebeat and the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting are investigating the process that Maricopa County, and many counties across the U.S., use to verify the identity of those who vote using a mail or early ballot. We want to know if it works.
We’d like your help responding to this survey because you are one of the roughly 1,800 voters in Maricopa County who had their ballot rejected in the 2022 midterm election because county officials did not believe the signature on the ballot envelope matched the past signatures in their voter record.
When ballots are rejected for this reason, the county logs the rejection and the list of names is publicly available upon request. That’s how we got your name. You can check for yourself by going to Maricopa County’s online portal: beballotready.vote, and clicking “view my voting history” once you’re logged in. I hope you’ll take a look at our past work at votebeat.org/arizona and azcir.org.
